For more than four decades, KI-16, Huang Shu, has occupied a central place in my clinical and cultivation practice. The deeper I have explored this remarkable point as a passageway to the depths, the more it has revealed itself to be far more than another point on the Kidney channel.
Huang Shu has become, for me, a portal into the hidden interior, the Extraordinary Vessels, primordial organization, and the profound intelligence of the human body.
In this three-hour online immersion, I invite you to join me in exploring Huang Shu as a meeting place of the Chōng Mài, Dài Mài, Rèn Mài, and Yīn Wéi Mài, and as a doorway into a deeper understanding of the Extraordinary Vessels and their relationship to human life.
Together we will investigate Huang Shu's relationship to the umbilical field, embodied memory, trauma, chronic illness, the gut-mind axis, and what I have come to experience as the body's deepest organizing principles.
Rather than focusing on point prescriptions, this immersion invites you into a living landscape where classical theory, anatomy, physiology, clinical experience, and personal cultivation come together to reveal new possibilities for understanding and treating the depths.
Exploring Huang Shu's relationships with the Chōng Mài, Dài Mài, Rèn Mài, and Yīn Wéi Mài, their interactions through the umbilical field, and their roles in constitutional organization and the deeper dimensions of human life.
The abdomen as a center of intelligence, memory, and emotional experience. We will explore the relationships among visceral function, the nervous system, embodied memory, and the interplay between emotional life and physical health.
Exploring the figure-eight pathways, Dài orbits, and the remarkable relationship between Huang Shu and Gāo Huāng Shū. We will investigate how these movements express deeper patterns of integration, circulation, and organization.
Understanding Huang Shu as a point of intersection between the vertical and horizontal dimensions of human organization, the body's central axis, the encircling movement of the Dài Mài, and the integration of these dimensions through the Extraordinary Vessels.
Bringing these relationships into clinical practice, particularly in chronic pain, visceral disorders, trauma, and complex or longstanding illness. Exploring how Huang Shu can help us recognize deeper constitutional patterns and develop new approaches to treatment.
Throughout our immersion, we will draw upon my Three Wombs model, approaching Huang Shu through multiple dimensions of knowing and experiencing.
Through cognition and imagination, we will explore classical theory, relationships, and the deeper patterns of organization revealed through the Extraordinary Vessels.
Through our senses and embodied awareness, we will learn to listen to the abdomen, recognize its movements, and experience the relationships between center and periphery, above and below, interior and exterior.
Through breath, cultivation, and spirit, we will explore Huang Shu not simply as an anatomical location or acupuncture point, but as a living passageway into the depths of our being.
My intention is to bring together different ways of knowing—intellectual, imaginative, sensory, embodied, and spiritual—so that our understanding of Huang Shu emerges not only from what we learn, but also from what we directly experience.
Throughout our three hours together, we will weave together illustrated teaching, clinical examples, discussion, and guided cultivation.
Drawing upon decades of clinical observation and personal exploration, I will share how my understanding of Huang Shu has evolved, how it informs my approach to diagnosis and treatment, and how this remarkable point continues to reveal new possibilities in clinical practice and cultivation.
My hope is that you leave not only with a deeper understanding of Huang Shu and new perspectives to bring into your clinical practice, but also with a different way of seeing the Extraordinary Vessels and their role in healing.
Above all, I hope this immersion offers an opportunity to experience something of the depths to which Huang Shu invites us, and to carry that experience into our work with others and our own cultivation.
